A Dad Gets Real About Overcoming Severe Anxiety

11/24/2025

Comments

In this episode, I talk to my longtime friend, Email Asante. We mix it up a bit and Email interviews me (Chad). Listen as a dad of three (me) gets brutally honest about his years-long battle with severe anxiety and panic attacks. He opens up about waking up gasping for air, losing dangerous amounts of weight, and the terrifying nights when he thought his heart was stopping. We talk about the one mindset shift (“If I die, I die”) that finally broke anxiety’s grip, how fatherhood unexpectedly lowered his anxiety, and what actually helped (faith, nutrition, counseling, and some surprising books). We also laugh about raising little kids, nostalgia for Blockbuster and VHS rewinders, and trying to live phone-free in 2025. Raw, hopeful, and zero fluff, this is the conversation every dad who’s ever felt overwhelmed needs to hear.

After a near-fatal truck accident, he started a nonprofit providing housing, emergency hotel stays, and crisis resources for Charleston-area veterans. Discover veteran transition challenges, military life lessons, faith-driven purpose, and how to support homeless vets.

Leaving Everything for the Kids of El Salvador

In this episode, I talk to my friend, Beth Thomson, a missionary in El Salvador. Listen as she recounts her journey from a youth trip vision, to a one-way ticket to El Salvador (without knowing Spanish). Hear how she left her life in the United States behind, launched an anti-gang Kids Club uniting kids from rival territories, and rescued teens from 3rd grade at 17 to 7th grade in under two years. Plus, get honest advice on flexibility in ministry, why obedience beats comfort, and the joy of seeing God change generations. A must-listen for anyone inspired by radical faith, child sponsorship, missions in tough places, and God’s disruptive grace!
